Doha to London

Let’s see: 8 hour flight, 2 meals and 3 movies. Harry slept on and off and so did Josh. The plane was an A380 and huge! There were stairs going to a part we will never get to fly in. With the purple neon lights it looked like the entrance to a night club bar. The in flight entertainment system had cameras under the plane and on the tail and in the front so you could watch the journey and take off/landing in real time. There was also an interactive map/ flight tracker that killed lots of time for me 😀

As I write this we are on a National Express coach to Gatwick Airport. Driving on the M25 is bringing back lots of memories circa 1989, mainly the traffic jams. The British do love a good queue! 1989, a great year gallivanting and living in London and I’m looking forward to seeing how much she has changed. I wonder what Josh was doing in 1989? 😂

While waiting for passengers to get on at Terminal 5 Heathrow, I connected to the wifi and got a FB messenger call from Karen & Nick Oliver who are only 30 minutes away in Woking. Was great to see and hear you Karen! Can’t wait to catch up this Sunday. We have some special places booked for eating and more eating. And perhaps a cocktail or two with a view.
On the down side, Harry is still unwell. He doesn’t have a temp but his mouth is so sore he can’t eat. It’s keeping him very subdued but sad he can’t enjoy. Not that the flying part is particularly fun 😞

Oh and by the way, England is so green! I know we’ve only driven on the motorway but even that is so very pretty 🌲🌲🌿🍃🌲🌲
We are at Gatwick now. I’ve sent Josh into Marks & Spencer to drool over the food. I’m betting that it has only got better in the last 27 years.

Yep, it’s got better!

Anyway, next stop Iceland!

Edit: We came all the way from Australia, through a Middle Eastern Airport, and it’s at Gatwick that they decide Harry’s medicine and my sleep essential oil should be double screen checked, bagged and put through the machine again!

Further edit: our flight is delayed an hour. We’re sitting in the plane on the Tarmac and 30th in the QUEUE (what did I tell you about Britain and queues!) I think tomorrow will be a very casual non rushed and sleep in day. 💤💤💤💤

We are here! And based just on the airport, I want to live here forever!

Finally arrived at our AirBnB at 3am. It’s gorgeous and very excited to explore tomorrow but need to sleep!

    1. At 1:20 in Iceland I was waiting for my bags a the luggage carousel! Drinking problem? I forgot you guys are watching so I better cut down on taking photos of alcohol in supermarkets! It’s 8:50am now (6:50pm for you). We are tired but I’m awake and ready to explore and no one else will wake up!

  1. London or England, in general, does like to group up to form a very long and continuous line-up XD hope harry’s throat feels better maybe some honey and lemon could help? and do you find it ironic that Iceland is green and Greenland is full of ice?
